FIREWORKS: A senses poem

FIREWORKS:
Sounds like squealing bombs blowing up in the sky.
Looks like coloured smoke with bright bombs in the dark night.
Smells like rotten fish mixed with gunpowder.
Tastes like chocolate fire with lava and volcanoes.
Feels like fuzzy, bumpy, hot smoke.

Should fireworks be banned?

I think fireworks should be banned. Fireworks are dangerous because they hit people and hurt them. Fireworks can burn down trees by houses and the houses can get burned down. Even babies get hurt. They could be asleep and get hit without mum seeing. I think fireworks should only be allowed in public displays. Dogs and cats can get scared by fireworks. That’s why I think fireworks should be banned.

I think fireworks should be banned because last year they were getting set of on a boat at the wharf. The fireworks could hit the sail or a baby could get hit by a spark. Last year Eva nearly got hit by a firework. Once I got a burn from a firework and it really hurt. Pets can get scared by the loud noises. I think fireworks should only be for public displays but not to buy in shops. Last year Jodi got hit by an Earth Shaker and she got badly burnt. So that’s why I think fireworks should be banned.

Last Friday I went with my step dad to his job at 1.00am in the morning. First we got on the 6 wheeler truck. We went to Murchison. Then we dropped off some papers. After that we went into the 8 wheeler truck and went up the Hope saddle. We went to the top of the hill and went down and I threw a paper out onto a driveway.

Cross Country

On August the 15th we had the big cross country. We walked to the Botanics in groups. We had to cross heaps of roads. The whole school was there. We lined up in our age groups and the five year olds went first. The six year old girls and boys went second. First the girls went then the boys. Before the race I felt nervous. I thought I had butterflies in my tummy. I felt good when I was running because I ran the whole way. After the race I felt exhausted. I wished I could go to sleep for two days. The best part was seeing my dad there. I didn’t think he would be there because my brother goes to kindy until lunchtime. It was nice to have him there. I hope we can do it again!

Rainbow Ski Field

The best thing I did in the holidays was going to the airport to get my mum. I gave my mum some flowers. When I went to get mum I waved at the pilot and the pilot waved back. My mum just got back from Auckland. We had fun. I was so excited I ran up to her and gave her a BIG hug! It was a nice, cool holiday.

In the holidays I went to Westport. I went to Westport again the next week too! Mum and dad drove Kane and me. My friend Jessie played with my biggest Littlest Pet Shop and Mia. It was fun and I felt happy. Then we made mail for my pets. It was fun. On the Monday in Christchurch we went pony riding then we came back to Nelson and it was boring!

In the holidays I went to soccer school. At soccer school we got to learn new tricks and soccer stuff. Another thing that I did in the holidays was going to the movies to see Shrek 3. In the holidays I went to Wellington. We went to the Zoo. We saw lot of animals. We saw a giraffe it was way biger than us. We saw lions they were asleep. I had lots of fan at the museum we had lunch there. Aefer that we went to the movies we saw Tnanformers. There was lots of people there. The movies went for a looing time. The next day we went back to Nelson. We couldn’t see because there was to much mist the pilot couldn’t see aswell. The pilit had a map so the pilit new weer he was going. The other thig wich I did in the holldas was going for a sleep over at Rohan house. We plad on the traplen we fought ech over. We plad on the computer. We stad up all niet. In the I holiday I watched three movies.The funniest move waS SHREK.The scariest
One was fantastic Four,it feit like I was in the movie!!!!.When I was on the ferry it was boring because there was hardly any thing to play on.When we got there it was night time.In the moning It was raning so we went to the moveis.After we went home and neaxt day we did lots of bikeing and Jacquis frenids Came over for the day and Jacqui went For a sleep over.Then we took Jacqui to The airport because she was going to see granny and granddad. She came back from granny and granddad on the Saturday. She gave us lots of lollies. The next day was the pool party. I stayed there for a little while because I went to Calebs birthday parties I hope we have a holiday like that again.

One of my favourite learning experiences this year was going to Cable Bay because you can learn more things about sea creatures. That is why I liked going to Cable Bay. One day I went to QE2 with my family. I felt like I was so excited that I was going to burst through the roof. The hydroslide is so slippery I nearly go upside down. There is a whirlpool, I get sucked in the middle. I go there on special occasions. I went down the hydroslide by myself. It was freaky because it is dark. I felt like I was in a ghost train.

One of my favourite things this year was Top 20. Top 20 is so, so fun. It was so much fun I nearly blew up. I like the activities at Top 20 and I also like wet days when Room 14 comes in our class.
